Kenyon Hall Presents
Dennis James & The Mighty Wurlitzer
Saturday, April 1, 2023
DOORS @ 7:00PM
SHOWTIME @ 7:30PM
Dennis James in Concert Performing - “THE SILENT CLOWN: BUSTER KEATON in 1923”
Within our era of conversion displays of parody, mockery and outright denial of genuine historical precedent by preening newcomers, James’ Silent Film Concerts refuse to employ alternative & non-period modern scoring motifs, sentiments and aesthetics. His performances insure genuine tributes to the early 20th c. film industry exhibition practices with performances that meet the established professional concert hall standards while creating audience involvements that preserve all of the silent films' extraordinary vitality and excitement.
“James is not just a master performer of film music, he is a master of the world to which such live performances permit privileged access- a world of Junes, spoons and harvest moons, of swirling waltzes and breathless romances, a world of sunsets and happy endings.” - The Seattle Times

Kenyon Hall Presents
Marley's Ghost - Album Release Show
Saturday, April 8, 2023
DOORS @ 7:00PM
SHOWTIME @ 7:30PM
"Marley's Ghost has earned cult-band status over years of spirited musicianship, multi-part harmonies and irreverent humor." — Paste
As most people will tell you, there’s an undeniable connection between versatility and variation. Suffice it to say that each depends on the other. In the case of Seattle-based Marley’s Ghost, that eclectic energy has resulted in a broad repertoire that has defied any ability to tag them to any one particular genre. Their dozen albums to date — like the output of The Band — survey a broad scope of Americana and acoustic music in general, refusing to confine them to any singular niche.

Ranger & The Re-Arrangers

Seattle "Gypsy Jazz" band Ranger and the “Re-Arrangers” evoke the spirit of a Paris cafe and the raucous energy of a Romani campsite with their version of Hot Club Swing. “At the heart of their sound is Ranger Sciacca's sweet violin playing… his sense of melody and daring improvisations” (World Rhythm). The band’s repertoire includes swing standards, traditional European melodies, the music of Django Reinhardt, and Ranger's unique originals.
Past Performances have included: Seattle Art Museum, Edmonds Concerts in the Park, NW Dance Network, Best of the Northwest Arts Festival, Vin du Lac Winery, Djangofest Northwest, Pender Harbour Jazz Festival, and Ethnic Fest Tacoma.
