Learn to play

Kenyon Hall currently offers private and group music lessons to kids ranging in age from early elementary to high school. The classes are taught by active musicians in the Seattle music community and are designed to emulate the experience of being in a cool band in our historic music city.

We currently offer weekly private lessons in piano, guitar, bass guitar, and drums, as well as songwriting, film scoring, audio engineering, and production. The group classes involve the creation of a band, weekly rehearsals, and quarterly shows. Most of the bands eventually progress to the point of writing songs and recording albums. The program encourages interest in all styles of music and is designed to create a safe and fun space that promotes creativity, collaboration, and fun.

We are thrilled to be able to expand Kenyon Hall’s music program for more students and more educators. For the last six years, Kenyon Hall has been offering group rock band classes to ages 7-18 with a focus on performing fun cover songs, songwriting, and recording and music production.

Learning to make music and be creative is an exciting but vulnerable experience; as such and when possible, we encourage joining in small groups to foster a familiar and comfortable environment to make music and learn together. Some musical experience is encouraged but not necessary. Classes are offered weekly in one-hour blocks as bands work toward refining their set for quarterly showcase concerts held at the Hall.
