Kenyon Hall’s

Guerrilla Recording Studio with Steve Fisk
& John Goodmanson

Course Details

  • Steve and John are here to open students eyes and ears to the magic that can be made from your bedroom, basement and even your local arts hall. Over each course the duo will teach in-depth on topics of recording, producing and mixing in the current production environment and on a budget.

  • Where: Kenyon Hall - 7904 35th Ave SW Seattle, WA

When: Each workshop will include 4-sessions taking place over the course of a 4-week period with the ability to work independently from session to session

  • Who It’s For: Aspiring record producers, engineers, and mixers who have a basic understanding of the modern recording process. Musicians with an interest in the recording process, or who, by necessity, are recording themselves and would like to know how to make the process easier and sound better.

  • What will be covered: Making what used to be called records. The focus of these workshops will be primarily on recording and mixing music made by bands and songwriters with traditional rock instrumentation – Guitars, Bass, Live Drums, Vocals. There will be specific discussion about:

    - Recording Live Drums.
    - Recording outside of a traditional studio environment.
    - Recording on a budget.
    - Creative and inventive ways to “make it work”
    - Keeping things running smoothly (recording session workflow)
    - Basic mixing techniques

  • What WILL NOT be covered: MIDI. How to use recording software (editing, shortcuts, differences of DAWs) Manuals are included for a reason! How to succeed in the music business. How to market your music.

  • Steve and John will be talking from experience about making records (and they've made a lot of them!) - what has worked for them and what hasn’t and why, how they approach working with bands and musicians and how to apply current technology to creating music for commercial release.
