Kenyon Hall will be hosting open jam sessions for learning and early professional players in the West Seattle Area. Focusing on jazz/blues material these will be sessions open to all players looking to learn more about improvising and creating on the bandstand with other musicians.
Kenyon Hall will provide a house trio made up of some great musicians from the Chief Sealth music program.
All instruments and/or vocalists welcome!

These jam sessions will be an open-call environment. We’ll have a sign-up sheet available when doors open (6:00pm) that players can sign-up with instrument details as well as song calls. Players can sign-up as soloists to play with the house band as well as duos/trios.
Each month will include a dedicated theme/recommended set-list of songs provided below. Feel free to choose from these songs or bring music to call your own song.

We have an intimate listening space with a modest stage that is welcoming to all ages, all genres, and all levels of learning.

The Jamboree will take place on the “Final Friday” of each month. Through the spring and the rest of the school year, dates will be: 3/28/25, 4/25/25, 5/30/25, and 6/27/25.
Doors will open for sign-ups at 6:00pm, with performances occurring between 6:30pm - 9:00pm

why

Kenyon Hall aims to engage the artist in anyone and inspire the arts in everyone. We work diligently to offer programming to young musicians of all sorts and are currently focusing that effort at engaging our young and aspiring musicians in and around West Seattle schools. We think it is of the utmost importance to provide a welcoming space for young musicians to learn “on the bandstand” as well as provide a musically safe environment to take big swings and succeed amongst our musical peers.

Kenyon Hall will be offering a free night of music to both players and listeners. The Hall will provide house instruments including the following:
Drums (with breakables), baby grand and/or yamaha digital keyboard, and enough bass/guitar amps to go around. Bringing your personal instrument is recommended - but Kenyon will have the larger items.
We can also offer printed copies of the “recommended setlist” for anyone without prepared music/access to a printer. All you need to do is bring your instrument and a set of open-ears!
